A More Precise Approach
to a Perpetual Problem

OUR ORIGIN STORY
Opollo's mission is to increase patient
access to high-quality, low-cost healthcare

During an anesthesiology rotation in medical school, Ryan Young (future Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Opollo) happened to attend a staff meeting about how the hospital was trying to improve their surgical suite. The hospital had paid a few million dollars for an external consulting team to optimize the surgical suite.

After working hard to implement the necessary workflow changes, the hospital executives were happy with their improvement, but they still felt something else was missing. The first cases of the day would start on time, but due to the inaccurate surgery duration forecasts coming from their electronic health record system, surgeries were still getting delayed resulting in frustration for patients, patient families, staff, and physicians.

Seeing this as an opportunity to utilize his backgrounds in medicine, business, quantitative finance, artificial intelligence, and medical natural language processing, Ryan volunteered and designed a self-directed student project which ultimately turned into Aion AI™.

As Ryan continued his entrepreneurial journey as an dual-degree MD/MBA candidate, he was a finalist in the New York State Business Plan Competition. As luck would have it, one of the judges was a senior executive at Elevance Health.

After a few one-on-one meetings, the Elevance Health executive introduced Ryan to the rest of his Innovation Team. During an Innovation Team meeting, one of the Elevance Health executives stated to Ryan, "We would buy those time slots that Aion AI™ frees up. We have trouble finding efficient, high-quality, low-cost healthcare facilities to send patients to.". At that moment, Ryan realized a great opportunity to connect high-quality, low-cost Aion AI™ healthcare facility customers with payers (e.g., health insurance companies, self-insured employers, state Medicaid programs, and Medicare). And thus, the concept of Forum was born.

With Opollo, healthcare facilities benefit from increased revenue growth, cost savings, and cash flow cycle acceleration via the Forum's 100% in-full, next day payments system. Payers are able to dispatch members (i.e., patients) to efficient, high-quality, low-cost healthcare facilities, thus reducing insurance claim payouts and increasing their revenue via higher Medicare Advantage star ratings.

In order to transform Opollo from a mere dream into reality, Ryan recognized the need to assemble a team of experts from diverse backgrounds in medicine, business, senior Silicon Valley engineers, and B2B sales.

Ryan successfully recruited Pete Turner to be the Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer of Opollo. Pete’s journey in programming began in Silicon Valley at the age of 14, leading to a distinguished career. Pete spent several years at Microsoft before diving into the startup ecosystem, where he founded and contributed to multiple ventures. He also brings extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions due diligence.

Before co-founding Opollo Technologies, Pete was a Staff Technical Lead Manager at Niantic, following their acquisition of Escher Reality where he was a founding engineer. There, he was instrumental in developing Augmented Reality SDKs and expanding the team from a small group to multiple teams specializing in augmented reality, machine learning, and large distributed systems.

Ryan collaborated with Dr. Ross Green, our Chief Medical and Revenue Officer, to spearhead our revenue operations. Dr. Green, a recognized thought leader in the AI SaaS space with published work in the field, brings a wealth of expertise in B2B sales and business development strategy. Trained in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, he holds a medical license in the State of New York.

In the future, the Opollo Team envisions a world where our solutions increase patient access to high-quality, low-cost healthcare!

OUR LOGO

Opollo, a name that tells our story

Our company name is homage to the Greek god Apollo, the god of healing, medicine, prophecy, knowledge, and light. Like this mythological symbol, we see our role as prophetic, a way to gain foresight into how knowledge and data can be used to promote healing and optimize healthcare logistics.

Our logo, in turn, brings our company name to life. With a nod to the god of prophecy, our logo incorporates a crystal ball as a way to see what is coming, to forecast in a quantifiable and transformative way which leads to valuable insights for our customers.
